Synteny

Find the ATRX gene in human and go to the Location tab.

(a) Click Synteny at the left. Are there any syntenic regions between the human ATRX and chicken? If so, which chicken chromosomes share syntenic blocks with the human X?

(b) Stay in the Synteny view. Is there a homologue in chicken for human ATRX? Are there more genes in this syntenic block with homologues? Navigate upstream and downstream of the ATRX in both species.

(a) Search for human ATRX from the home page. Click on ATRX genomic coordinates X:77504880-77786233:-1 in the search results to open the Location tab. Click Synteny at the left and change the species to Chicken next to the image.

Yes, there are three syntenic regions in chicken to human chromosome X, which is in the centre of this view: chromosomes 1 and 4.

(b) Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see a list of homologous genes on both genomes.

The homologue in chicken of human ATRX is ENSGALG00000007843. Click Centre on gene ATRX to compare the genes between human and chicken in this syntenic block.
